Discussion Week 5.2: Speech Buddies

Hiiii. :)

While watching the two speech buddy videos, I learned a few things and took some things the speaker's did into consideration. In the first video called "Drinking," by Matthew, he gives many statistics on driving accidents. He uses an overhead for this. The purpose for his speech was to inform students on the danger of drinking to get drunk, and he wants students to become more responsible drinkers. I liked the fact that he chose that topic because that topic can really relate to college students because many of them drink while attending a university. He had a really good attention getter which I'm sure would have caught my attention if I were listening to his speech.

In the second video, "Light Pollution," Courtney does a really good job by stating everything that she is going to talk about, right from the start. She stated what she was going to speak about, light pollution, and she said how she was going to share with the audience the light pollution problems and how if affects us.

From both speaker's, I learned that just like in Courtney's, I should state what I am going to talk about, and from Matthew's, I learned that I should pick a topic that will interest students and use a visual aid.
