Speech Buddies!
While watching the videos for this week, I learned several things which I think I can incorporate with my next speech. In one of the videos, Erin talks about the correct way to use language in your speech so that it can be effective for the audience. Anthony speaks about involving the audience with your language, in other words, engaging the audience with language. He gives a good amount of pronouns which if said, will allow the audience to feel a tad bit more connected with one's speech. One can start out their attention getter with humor, but just do it the correct way so that no one gets offended. You do not always want to speak so low, you want to change it up a bit, that way, the audience will not get bored and will pay more attention. I guess for my next video I will try to change my tone and try to get my speech more connected with the audience.

hey mz.jeter,
ReplyDeleteI found the videos this week to be really helpful as well for incorporating new things into my speech. I didnt think using pronouns such as; we, you, or us would make much difference in incorporating the audience, but it is good to know. I found the tip on starting out with humor to be a good idea, something I don't think anyone has done, yet in our class. But when adding humor, it has to fit well with your speech which may not always be the case, and not offend anyone in the audience.
Hello there Ms. Jeter!
ReplyDeleteI also found many things throughout the speech buddy videos. Using humor in our speech is something I would feel comfortable using. But like you said we need to use it in the correct way so that no one gets offended by it. But I think using humor can grab the audiences attention more effectively & it is something at my comfort level when talking to people. Tone is a important factor when it comes to our vocal delivery. Being monotone is something the audience does not find interesting so changing up the tone will probably attract their attention :)
